About Tara

I first became involved in spirituality and healing as a very young girl, talking to trees and dogs as often and seriously as I prayed to God. Although I didn't call it "healing", I saw and felt the transforming effect that a few minutes of laughter, dancing, playing or the presence of a loving pet had on my mood, or on the more heavy depression of my family members. From very early on, I was fascinated with all the creative arts: painting, poetry, dance, and theater. In particular, I was taken with spontaneous movement of any kind, even a paper bag taken playfully by the wind.

Throughout my teens and twenties, I had a combustible relationship with the overlapping strands of my troubling passion and fiery creativity. My participation in theater, dance and spirituality, reflected my life and saved it. My core fascination with theater and dance was an intense connection with the power of breath and movement to express a scene or fuel a dance phrase. As a director I always looked to the breath and the simple truly felt gesture of the actor to make the moment real. This realization became the opening to my own healing.

As an adult, I began working as a client and student with various healers on becoming a centered, responsible and more focused free spirit, so I could give and steward my gift without setting myself aflame in the process. I learned to connect my feelings to my actions in the simplest way, literally breathing and moving my feelings in the moment. It was the same key as when I was a girl: move freely, and the spark, your own unique answer to any challenge, arrives. No matter how seemingly limited or how strong the body is, a clear thought, a real emotion, given breath, expressed in a tiny sparkle of the eye or a wide muscular arc of the arm, makes a vital statement. As I continued to study in depth and then to teach breathwork, Reiki, Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythm tm movement, meditation and counseling, I began to see them all as a wholistic system for healing. I call my way of working “integrative therapies”, using many methods that both come from and move toward one goal: spontaneous movement and authentic expression.

About Healing Center

Many people ask me what or where is “ Healing Center”? The smarty pants new age answer is that it’s within each of us. The practical answer is that my business is located in the heart of San Francisco, two blocks north of Dolores Park, close to BART and MUNI, right on the boundaries of Noe Valley, the Mission and the Castro. When you make an appointment, I will give you the exact directions.

OK, so really it is both…in the heart of the city and in the heart of each of us. I chose “healing center” as a reminder that both are important.
